Bragging rights were awarded to Team BI 3peat who individually raised $3,001.00. This win marks the third year in a row for Practice Director, Greg Steffine’s team. The team is eager to participate again next year and plans to surpass its 2012 contribution.

Brad Ryba, Senior Consultant, went above and beyond raising the largest amount at $1,812.00. His enthusiasm could be felt as he described the event, “It was great to see so many of our SDLC employees and their families come together to support a great cause. The Bowl for Kid’s Sake event has become an annual tradition for employees at SDLC Partners and everyone looks forward to participating again next year.

Brad Ryba, Senior Consultant at SDLC Partners, to address ICD-10 Testing at the 2012 ASQ Pittsburgh’s Spring Quality Conference

SDLC Partners, L.P. is pleased to announce that Brad Ryba, Senior Consultant, will be speaking about software quality assurance, and addressing ICD-10 Testing at the 2012 ASQ Pittsburgh’s Spring Quality Conference. The conference is set to take place on Friday, April 13th at the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry Woods, Pennsylvania.

Keynote speaker, Dr. Robert Burney, Medical Director for the U.S. Department of State, will open the conference by addressing the meaning and value of “quality” in today’s corporate world. The conference will then break into two segments, “Quality in Healthcare” and “Managing Quality” with an overarching theme of “Mission Critical Quality”. In accordance with the “Quality in Healthcare” track, Brad will be addressing the challenges in migrating from ICD-9 to ICD-10 coding within the healthcare industry. Tom Tabor, Healthcare and Technology Advisor at SDLC Partners acknowledged the potential benefits of the migration, “Due to the three step process including coding, testing, and implementation, the ICD-9 to ICD-10 conversion is going to be a costly endeavor to both payers and providers. If done correctly, however, the new codes will provide more data that can be transformed into practical information allowing for significantly more analysis. This will lead to better quality and lower costs.”

The timing is key as Brad noted, “With the recent announcement by the U.S. to delay the ICD-10 deadline, healthcare organizations have a unique opportunity to ensure they have an effective testing and implementation strategy in place.” Brad will address the importance of testing and the need to align internal enterprise systems and external partners to accept the new coding. Brad will continue his discussion by sharing best practices and a sound approach for testing the ICD-10 Coding. Having spoken at previous ASQ Section meetings, Brad welcomes the opportunity to speak at the conference, “ASQ provides a valuable forum for sharing ideas among industry professionals. We have a healthcare system that increasingly relies on software and data systems to make decisions. Assuring the quality of those systems means taking a structured approach throughout the planning, testing, and implementation lifecycles.”

SDLC Partners expands operations by adding downtown Pittsburgh location

SDLC Partners, a Monroeville-based business and technology consulting firm, will expand its operations in September by opening a new office in Three Gateway Center in downtown Pittsburgh.

“We are very excited to open our solution center in downtown Pittsburgh,” said Scott Barnyak, one of the firm’s principal partners. “The SDLC Solution Center leverages our proven business and technology delivery experience to provide clients a competitive onshore option that can enhance their IT delivery capability in the areas of custom web and mobile development, outsourced testing, and next generation business intelligence.”

Since it was first created in 2004, SDLC has emerged as one of the region’s fastest growing technology firms, expanding its workforce from five employees to more than 190. With SDLC’s continued growth, the new location will help service local and regional customers.

”We remain very committed to driving growth in the western Pennsylvania market and we believe our new Solution Center in downtown will play a key role,” said Chris Simchick. “We have identified several thrusts for this center; one being the retention of talent in the Pittsburgh Market while creating exciting partnering opportunities with our clients.”

Business collaborations have been a critical component to SDLC’s success. In recent years, Highmark Inc. has partnered with SDLC on a variety of initiatives such as the “Community Sourcing Program,” which was designed to connect college graduates to the job market and provide SDLC’s customers another option to manage costs.

Highmark has also utilized SDLC’s expertise to help improve its self-service Web portals, which were developed to enhance the experience associated with the business transactions Highmark has with its customers.

“Our partnership with SDLC Partners has helped generate more jobs as well as sustain economic vitality for our local communities,” said Ken Melani, M.D., Highmark president and chief executive officer.

SDLC will initially occupy 4000 square feet of office space in Three Gateway Center, and house some 40+ employees downtown.
