On July 13, 2013 several SDLC Partners’ employees and their families teamed up to participate in the 3rd annual Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma 5K held at North Park. The runners/walkers braved the nearly 90 heat to support the cause. Candice Graytok, Human Resources Manager at SDLC Partners, expressed her enthusiasm by stating, “The 5K for Sarcoma was a great way to spend my Saturday morning. Not only was I able to get my workout in and complete 3.1 miles, but I also connected with co-workers and supported a worthy cause by joining the fight to eliminate Sarcoma.”

Sarcoma is a rare form of cancer that typically affects children and young adults. The cancer attacks numerous tissues throughout the body which makes it a difficult disease to treat. With additional funds contributed to research, many are hopeful that a cure is not too far in the distant future. This is the third year that SDLC Partners’ community service committee, SDLC Connects has sponsored the event.

Bill Suit, event organizer and Sarcoma survivor expressed his enthusiasm, “Already the largest single fundraiser for sarcoma research, this year’s event set new records. An estimated 2300 people attended, volunteered, or participated in this Walk/Run. Over $130,000 was raised for sarcoma research, which will be donated to the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Center and Sarcoma Foundation of America. The efforts of the Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma, along with its sponsors and donors, have contributed over $300,000 toward sarcoma research since 2011…we are a small but powerful group…. A big thank you to SDLC Partners for its continued support!”

About Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma Organization

On July 14, 2012 SDLC Partners’ employees and their families braved the heat and stormy weather to come out and run/walk in the 2nd annual Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma 5K held at North Park.  Ashley Cvrkel, Account Manager at SDLC, expressed her enthusiasm by stating, “It was a great way to start my weekend. Not only was I able to connect with fellow employees but I was also able to contribute to a worthy cause by joining efforts to help find a cure for Sarcoma.”

Sarcoma is a rare form of cancer that typically affects children and young adults. The cancer attacks numerous tissues throughout the body which makes it a difficult disease to treat. With additional funds contributed to research, many are hopeful that a cure is not too far in the distant future. This is the second year that SDLC Partners has sponsored this event.

Bill Suit, event organizer and Sarcoma survivor expressed his enthusiasm, “The Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma Committee is extremely pleased that SDLC has chosen to support our organization’s commitment to raise funds supporting research to find a cure for Sarcoma.  Part of our mission is to raise awareness of this disease and to elevate hope among Sarcoma survivors and their families.  Without the support of corporate sponsors, like SDLC, the event could not be made possible. We are particularly pleased with the results of this year’s Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma 5k event.  Not only did we raise over $105,000 this year, we had approximately 1700 people attend and participate in our activities.  Most importantly we created an atmosphere that was exciting, positive and happy, as we continue to fight against this rare form of cancer, Sarcoma.  We are proud of our association with SDLC and excited about the partnership that has developed between our two organizations.

Added Scott Barnyak, one of SDLC’s Principal Partners “We are proud to support the local charities and organizations in the Pittsburgh region as well as provide opportunities for our employees to connect outside of the work environment and give back to the community.”
