Women in Technology: Equipping Today’s Minds for Tomorrow’s Technology Careers

Interested in a career in technology? The Business and Education Stakeholders in Technology Industry Partnership (BEST IP) invite all girls up through those entering their sophomore year in college to attend this FREE technology career event.

Here is a summary of the Women in Technology event:

  • Event being held at Seton Hill University on Thursday, June 16th from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
  • This event is 100% FREE, and includes breakfast and lunch!!!
  • Technology jam-packed day with 2 speakers and 3 workshops, plus a panel discussion talking about education and IT.
  • Keynote speakers include Audrey Russo, CEO of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, and Barbara Van Kirk, President of IQ, Inc.
  • MC for the day is Judy Cornwall of Impaqt
  • Workshops include hands-on experience with mobile phone applications, cyber crime, and much more!

  • There will be a professional mentor assigned to small groups of 3-5 girls for the day to go around to the workshops, interact, and discuss the girls’ future goals and whatever interests they have.

Barbara Van Kirk, founder and President of IQ Inc. in Murrysville, has been awarded the distinction of 2011 Woman-Owned Business of the Year by the Western Pennsylvania Small Business Network.

IQ Inc. Wins 9th Annual Pittsburgh Business Awards

Here’s some great news from IQ Inc.! Congratulations!

IQ Inc. was selected as the winner for the 9th Annual Pittsburgh Business Ethics Award in the Small Business Category (less than 250 employees) by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

The Pittsburgh Business Ethics Awards honors local companies who demonstrate “a firm commitment to ethical practices in their day-to-day operations, philosophies and response to crises and challenges”. The award was presented by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Society of Financial Services Professionals, along with the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership at the University of Pittsburgh, at an awards luncheon at the Omni William Penn Hotel.

Barbara VanKirk established IQ Inc. in 1994 to provide expert consulting, staffing, project management and software engineering services to companies with Information Technology and software needs.
